So why am I doing it?

Well, because I don't think I can... well I would like to think I can but I really am not all that sure.

I have been looking for one of those life defining challenges for a long time and considered quite a number in my time, LEJOG, the Pennine Way, London to Paris and finally settled on the Raid as the one that is the right fit for me.

I had always thought that I would try to use whatever endeavour I chose to raise some money for charity.  This in some ways has influenced the choice of challenge because on a personal basis I never felt that I could do an organised event where a portion of the funds raised contribute to taking part in the activity - I always thought that would be like asking friends to pay for me to go on holiday.

So back to the topic in question and on to why am I doing it now.  In September 2012 one of my good friends lost his fight to cancer, he was a young man and taken far to early.  It was a bit of a kick up the arse for me to stop putting things off and commit.  It also helped me to chose the charities any donations will be shared between.
