Raid History

The Raid Pyreneen is a permanent challenge (meaning that it is not run on a specific day when it is supervised) that was started in 1952 by the  Cyclo Club BĂ©arnais from Pau.  It can be undertaken from either direction, starting in either the East or the West.

There are two flavours, the classic challenge which climbs over 18 cols and must be completed in 100 hours or a more leisurely but still taxing route covering 28 cols within 10 days.

Both routes contain checkpoints where participants are obliged to get their route cards stamped by a local business.
