Some of the Planning

April 2013

4th April

Well they have arrived! The postman today dropped of the Route Card, the Card to be stamped on route and the bike number.  I guess it is very real now!

March 2013

27th March

With a little help from google translate today I sent of the forms to register with the Cyclo Club Bernais and paid the registration fees.  This means that the dates are pretty much set in stone now (16th September start at 9am).

24th March

Having spent a lot of time with the maps and doing cross referencing I have decided to go with the route put up by velopeloton.com, rather unsurprisingly their route is pretty much perfect as a starting point (it is one of the things they do for a living after all).  Whilst I will be looking to put some work in by myself to cover our particular choices of accommodation I have put embedded links for the source routes on the site for others to see.

November 2012

My paper maps have arrived so I have started plotting the mandatory points (the cols and the checkpoints) which comprise the route.  Looking at things so far it would appear that the route becomes self evident from this point as it is a very simple join the dots exercise.  We will see.

Paper maps on the floor what could be better.

Paper maps on the floor and Google Earth on the HD TV :-D
