August 2013
25th August 2013
For the first Sunday in ages both Stephen, my training partner from Weston Wheelers, and I are able to make it out on a Sunday morning. We meet up outside the pub as normal at 8am and as planned head out over the Somerset Levels to Wells. It was great to catch up and despite the wind which is quite strong we as always push on at a pace which is a little higher than planned. It is great to be spinning along and catching up. We stop at Cafe No1 in Wells for the usual high quality coffee and carrot cake.
On the way back the wind has picked up off the Bristol Channel but we kept on pushing at a good tempo. Stephen's legs were feeling the almost 8 weeks off the bike but I was feeling great, pain free and fresh which was a bit of a change from my past few rides.
Having said goodbye near our meeting point I headed home through Lympsham just to add a few extra km to the ride and finished up with 83km for the morning.
22nd August 2013
Lucy was on a sleep in last night so I set the alarm early and planned a ride before work. My first conference call of the day was at 8am so having had some breakfast I set off out onto the levels just after 6am. It was foggy so I needed my lights for the first time in ages but kind of fell back in love with being on my bike, it was so quiet and peaceful that it cleared my mind and relaxed me. Ride data
here. So with 37 and a half km under my belt for the morning I had decided I would go out after work and run with the fact that I was really enjoying myself. Lucy had been planning to go out so a combination of a little procrastination on her part and the rescheduling to join me we went out after work. Another session on the levels, this one much longer we had a great ride which we kept extending a little where possible led to just over 71km and a finish under lights just after sunset. Cracking ride and a definite good session for Lucy as she is starting to both increase her distance and up her average speed. 108km for the day for me.
Ride data for the evening ride

Took Lucy out today for a ride which whilst not as intensive as planned was a good ride. 2 hours plus riding and just short of 50km, A lot less than we will be doing in a month but still significantly better than nothing.
16th August 2013
Well it is the evening of the 16th August which means that hopefully in one calendar months time I will be eating like a horse and resting up with over 200km of the challenge out of the way. I must apologise for not updating the site for some time but I will be retrofitting all of the data for the past few months over the next week or so.
I have a big week planned this week and following getting Lucy's site on line and with it the firm announcement that Lucy will be doing the ride with me I guess we both have a big weekend in front of us. Lucy may not thank me for it come Sunday as I am hoping for 200km over the weekend.
I addition to getting in the final month of training in the legs now is the time that I am starting to push for donations to the charities so please give if you can via the charities page. Thanks.
